Module 1
Theory of the systematic examination of the eye.Which equipment is necessary?
Practical exercise examination of the anterior aspects and the retina of the eye using an otoscope and the correct use of a slit lamp. 
How to measure intra-occular pressure?
Flushing of tear ducts in dogs without the need of a sedation.
Consideration when dealing with exophthalmus.
How to use a gonioscopy lens?
Schirmer tear test, Fluorescine test, examination of the 3rd eye lid,
The anterior aspects of the eye (anatomy, physiology, diseases)
Part 1: orbita, eye lids, cornea
Case studies in small groups and discussion of the results

Module 2
Basic considerations of eye surgery: Anesthesia in eye surgery, the operating field, using magnification,
recommended instruments, suture material, discussion of the theory of 
the basic eye surgery
Practical exercise: surgery of the eye lid,entropion/macroblepharon, tacking, Hotz-Celsus, nasal and temporal
canthusplasty, fixation using the orbital ligament

ectropion/eye lid tumors, wedge excision, 4-sided excision, brow suspension, lateral H-plasty,
surgery of the 3rd eye lid: pocket technique, excision of folded 3rd eye lid, 3rd eye lid flap,
tear ducts: flushing, canalization, tarsorrhaphy, 
enucleation, exenteration, retrobulbar injection, lancing of a retrobulbar abscess

Module 3
Anterior​ aspects of the eye (anatomy, physiology, diseases)
part 1: cornea, tear ducts, 
practical case
studies in small groups, discussion of treatment options, using images,
the posterior aspects of the eye (anatomy, physiology, diseases) uvea, lens, glaucoma
practical case studies in small groups with discussion of treatment options

Module 4
Anterior aspects of the eye (anatomy/physiology/diseases)
part 2: fundus, neuro-ophthalmology
Neurological eye diseases,
Practical case studies in small groups with discussion of treatment options
anatomy, physiology and diseases of the eyes of small mammals, differences between rabbit,
guinea pigs and the most common diseases using case studies,

Practical session in the wet lab, discussion of basic considerations
Advanced surgery using pigs eyes: grit keratomy, paracentesis, intravitreal injections, keratectomy,
removal of foreign bodies, conjunctival flaps,
intracapsular extraction of the lens (luxation of the lens)
